Amanda Caps is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate that works with couples, teens, families and individuals at Pivotal Center in Normandy Park, Washington.
Amanda loves to work with couples because when we meet someone that we want to share our life, space, and time with it can feel very seductive and hopeful. She finds the process of creating and maintaining a relationship fascinating because each partner brings their entire history, family culture, and assumptions on what makes a ‘good’ relationship into creating this new relationship. Then to further complicate things, the couple must merge these ideas with one another to create an entirely new system to live, love, and grow within.
Amanda often utilizes research by the Gottman Institute to add science based relationship research to provide a new perspective on looking at the ‘same old’ problems in a couple’s relationship. Amanda earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and is a Gottman Leader of the Seven Principles of Marking Marriage Work and Bringing Baby Home. Amanda has also completed Gottman’s Level 1 & 2 trainings as well as attended the Art and Science of Love with her husband Chris. Amanda credits the Gottman’s and the Seven Principles with saving their marriage before it even began.
